Dubrovnik


If you are looking for exciting and romantic  get-away, possibly with a rental car you found it! At the Croatian moon tip, on the very south lies Croatia's most charming city there is. Dubrovnik is a beautiful  medieval city founded in the  6th century. Its countless  landmarks are very  well preserved thanks to a great, almost 2 kilometers  (12 miles) long wall which runs around the city and was erected to protect  settlements from barbarian invasions in result  was  the only eastern Adriatic city-state to rival Venice in 15th and 16th centuries.   All through history,  Dubrovniks position in the Adriatic sea  and its people, thriving mainly on maritime  trade and shipbuilding, created a rich and vibrant culture.

If you want to get to one of the most beautiful places in northern hemisphere, there are quite a few ways beside car rental. Dubrovniks harbour has a great connection  with other harbours in Croatia and Italy.  Then  there is newly built bus terminal near harbour and Dubrovnik Airport which lies just 20 kilometers from city and offers a great deals on flights. Using these way of transport, combining it with cheap car rental, makes it a perfect holiday experience. Take it for a spin around Dubrovnik on a hot summer day and  take a look at pure Mediterranean  nature, from well maintained croatian roads.
The city of Dubrovnik joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1979 that figures must see places are not rare in Dubrovnik. First thing you will see, coming from north into an old part of Dubrovnik city, are the Pile gate. This is one of  the north entrances, it features a stone bridge with two gothic arches. Than  you will see this round structure near the pile gate called Big Onofrio’s Fountain. The 16-sided  water fountain  is considered a masterpiece of engineering of 14th century. Also there is Church of St. Blaise and the Cathedral. Church of St. Blaise is worth seeing,  because of the religious artifacts in a  room behind the altar, but the Cathedral at night is just amazing, due to surrounding  lights,   perfect  for all of you, who love  night photography .  For fans of great architecture there is a Roman-Gothic style, Franciscan Monastery  and surrounding buildings which are considered a masterwork of Dubrovnik architecture, plus its the gardens are just extraordinary! Moving on through the city at night you will come up to some great clubs, bars and cafes . One of them is Troubadour Jazz Cafe, where you can listen to some great American style jazz. Then there is Cafe Buza, not  that well known but  enter it and you will find the nicest and coolest looking bar you  ever have a beer in, the cafe is built  into the Dubrovnik wall on a rocky cliff . There are a lot of other, must see, Dubrovnik iconic places, that you will pass and certainly stop by it, while exploring the city of Dubrovnik, like Orlando's Column , the Jesuit Church, the bell tower… All of the locations are accessible on foot, bicycle or  for a trip around the croatian coast, with a rental car.  Now, let the warm, Mediterranean breeze and sound of the splashing waves, on the salty seaside shore, not to mention the magnificent architecture  and plenty other natural and man made marvels  takes you over.
