It is recommended that you make a reservation of the vehicle as soon as possible as it is very possible, if you are making a last minute booking, that the location will be sold out. On the other hand if you are an early booker, you will be provided with much better rate as if the booking would be made last minute.

Spain car rental industry is quite different than others. When renting a car in Spain you have to be careful for the different terms that some car rental companies have especially when it gets to fuel policy. There are three common fuel policy types.

First one is a very common one: Car is rented with a full tank of fuel and should be returned full. Otherwise car rental company can charge you for refueling and could cost much more that the value of the fuel is.

Second one is that car is rented with a variable volume of fuel and should be returned the same way.

Third method is that car is supplied with the full tank of fuel and returned as empty as possible.

Sometimes the clients are not informed about different fuel policies and so they return the car with a full tank, for which unfortunately they don't get a refund. Or they return the car empty and they are charged for refueling. 

Before booking a car or before renting it, take your time and read the terms and conditions of rental, so you wont be surpriced by any policy rule, that it will accure when picking up the car.
